Choomoa: a memorial social network

A Laravel and MySQL web app I developed where families create memorial profiles for people and pets, and friends follow them, lay flowers and gifts, leave messages and share memories.

Choomoa is a mobile-first memorial service in Korean and English. Between late 2021 and 2022 I developed its Laravel 8 app and admin panel: sign-up with email or Google, Apple, Naver and Kakao; memorial profiles for people and pets, public or password-protected with access requests; flowers, gifts, messages and shared memories; points for taking part; and notifications when someone likes a profile, lays a flower or sends a message.

Built with Laravel 8, MySQL, Blade, Bootstrap and jQuery. The admin panel manages users and their points, memorial profiles (with CSV import), access requests, reported messages, comments, photos, videos and voice notes, banners, donation campaigns, and the flowers and gifts. Screenshots show demo data.

Memorial profiles

Swipeable cards for people and pets, with dates, tags, nationality and a shareable memorial link. Owners can make a profile private and approve access requests.

Flowers, gifts & messages

Visitors lay a flower or gift and leave a message. Taking part earns points (1 for a flower or gift, 3 for a message, 5 for a memory) that users can donate to campaigns.

Memories & notifications

A shared album of photos, videos, voice recordings and Instagram posts, with comments and reporting, and notifications for every like, flower and message.
